About the Plant

Palmarosa essential oil is steam distilled from freshly cut whole flowering Cybopogon martinii, a perennial grass in the Family Poaceae. Palmarosa grass is also known as Indian geranium and rosha grass. Palmarosa is native to southeast Asia.
Odor Characteristics: Palmarosa oil has a sweet, rosacrous and geraniol-like odor, with a herbal aspect and slight hay-like quality, and a powerful dry-down of the same character with a slight clary sage aspect.

Aromatherapy Uses: Palmarosa Essential Oil has antiseptic, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties and is considered a wide-spectrum bactericide.

Perfumery Uses: Palmarosa essential oil has provided a natural source of geraniol for perfumery use. It is used in soap perfumes and in bases with geranium odor.

Palmarosa Essential oil has GRAS Status, but has a high sensitization potential, and therefore care should be taken for use on the skin.
